History

Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), Abbottabad, a 1000-bedded tertiary care teaching hospital, is allied with Ayub Medical College and is the largest health care

facility of the Northern Pakistan. ATH started working in the year 1995 and gaining the 1000 bedded Status in the year 1998. It is a centre for undergraduate and Post Graduate studies in different disciplines of Medicine and Surgery.

ATH is a state of the art health facility, well equipped with advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Facilities and caters for a wide ranged population of Millions of patient ranging from Hasandabdal to Gilgit and a part of Kashmir on one side and a part of Punjab to swat valley on the other side.

ATH is an autonomous body, being funded by the Govt. NWFP and is governed by a High powered committee ,The Management Council with the Chief Executive, AMI as its Chairman.

Organizational Structure

The organizational structure of ATH is Divisional + Matrix as is the case in most large organizations, with the MC as the top governing and Strategic Body and the CE, AMI as it’s Chairman.

The Chief Executive is the overall head of the institution and is responsible for all administrative and other matters to ensure standard health care delivery to the patients. He is also the strategic head of the Hospital.

The Medical superintendent is responsible for the smooth running of the hospital and is directly answerable to the CE, AMI. He may be entrusted with any other task assigned to him by the CE, AMI.

The Medical superintendent is assisted by the Dy. Medical Superintendent/s who along with other members of the Executive Staff committee ensure execution of the administration of the organization in various departments.
